This modest 8 hectare family estate is at the forefront of Beaujolais' winemaking revival thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Zordan family. Louis and Renée purchased the estate in the famous Beaujolais cru of Fleurie in 1972 and were joined in the business by Christine and Claude, the couple's daughter and son-in-law, in 1978. The most recent addition to the estate is Romain, Christine and Claude's son, who represents the third generation of the family to work on the estate. In 2009 the Zordans decided to convert their entire estate to organic viticulture to allow them to take the best possible care of their precious land. Their well-sited vineyards face east which allows them to enjoy the morning sun during the ripening period. The family's Beaujolais wine is sourced from Gamay vines with an average age of 80 years which are carefully harvested by hand and sorted at the winery to ensure only the best grapes are used. When the grapes arrive at the winery they undergo a 10 to 15 day maceration before being fermented and then aged in cement vats for 10 months on the lees. This produces a stunning ruby red wine which exudes fresh strawberry and redcurrant notes on the nose and a fine structure and crushed red berry character on the palate.
